Boost for Neighbourhood Watch in Baildon

November 15, 2005 4:49 PM

Lets stop crime togetherThirty people in Baildon have expressed an interest in being involved in Neighbourhood Watch schemes as a result of a survey carried out by local Lib Dem councillors.

Councillors John Briggs and John Cole carried out a postal full survey of 6,700 homes in Baildon, about crime issues. As a result, thirty people volunteered to take part in neighbourhood watch schemes.

Cllr Briggs said,

" I was very pleased with the large number of people who came forward to take part. The police can't be everywhere and local people are the eyes and ears of the community where crime prevention is concerned. People are clearly concerned about crime but they are also willing to do something about it.

I hope that this will lead to closer co-operation between the police and the residents of Baildon.

The list of volunteers has been sent to the Shipley Area Anti-crime partnership and the Baildon Neighbourhood Watch Manager."
