No need to move house if your local is staying open for longer hours

November 29, 2005 3:13 PM

Pint of beerThe new licensing act is now up and running, but that doesn't mean you have to move house. You can still have your say!

In fact the local residents who live near The Half-Way House in Baildon were so successful in front of the licensing panel that they now have the right to have bi-monthly liaison meetings with the pub. to resolve any problems which arise from the implementation , good or bad, of the new act.

Councillor John Briggs who has led the local campaign to ensure the public in Baildon were not ignored, said,

"If noise, anti-social behaviour, or public nuisance is still a problem don't stay silent contact the local police, environmental health officers, or trading standards. As a resident, you have rights as well as the drinkers and the landlords. Licensed premises can be closed down or made to toe the line if they make life intolerable for people living nearby."

The councils HELPLINE is 43100.
