Elderly residents celebrate success

November 2, 2006 4:58 PM

White picket fenceElderly residents in Idle are celebrating after their pleas for fencing to Bradford Community Housing Trust have been heard.

"I discovered that Bradford Community Housing Trust had accidentally underspent on a joint project with the Idle Village Partnership so we agreed that the money could be used to solve this problem" said Councillor Jeanette Sunderland, Chair of the Idle Village Partnership.

"I am sure that the residents concerned will be absolutely delighted with the news. I have also asked that officers at Bradford Community Housing Trust consider a lighting scheme to make sure that each of their tenants in Idle village has a security light above their door.

Many of the entrances to these properties are dark which makes it difficult for people to see where they are going as the nights draw in.

We shall also shortly be having a special neighbourhood forum which will be held during the day to listen to people about the things that concern them and update them on plans for improvements to the library."
