Disabled Facilities Grant can be used to install showers like this
Councillor Carol Beardmore ( Lib Dem Eccleshill ) has welcomed an increase in Government money for helping disabled people to adapt their homes but believes it is not enough.
She said,
" Any increase in grant is welcome but Bradford has a greater number of people with life limiting conditions and an increasing number of people with disabilities. It warrants a much larger allocation if it is to satisfy the demand for facilities and adaptations to meet the current need let alone the future needs.
The waiting list for adaptations is 21 months and there are almost 400 people on the waiting list. That is why we pressed the council to allocate extra money from its own budget to help disabled adults and children who needed more expensive adaptations to allow them to live in their own homes. "
