Claw back amnesty declared on school cash.

February 3, 2009 3:18 PM
Cllr David Ward

Cllr David Ward who started the campaign to prevent the clawback

Councillor David Ward has welcomed the decision to allow the schools threatened with a claw back of unspent cash, to keep it. Eighteen schools had been told to hand back a total of almost £500,000 of unspent funds but an amnesty has been declared for this. The rules will be made clearer for schools in future.

Cllr Ward who is chair of governors at Carlton Bolling College began the fight against the claw back when he wrote to all the schools involved at t he end of last year.

He said, ' I am delighted with the final outcome. I now want Education Bradford and the Council to establish agreed principles for a clawback process that accurately and justly identifies those schools that genuinely do not have a realistic and relevant plan for the use of surplus funds'.
