Cllr Watmough is fighting for the rights of patients to get NHS dental care
Councillor John Watmough has taken up the case of 4,000 dental patients who have been removed from the register of an NHS dentist.
The Carnegie Clinic in Windhill has written to the patients telling them that they will no longer be able to get NHS treatment.
Cllr Watmough said, " I was contacted by people who received this letter and have written to the Primary Care Trust to find out what is going on. Everyone has a right to treatment by an NHS dentist but many people can't find one. They were very pleased when the clinic took them on but they did not realise that it would only be for a year. Where are these people supposed to go for treatment if they can't afford the charges at the Carnegie Clinic?
I want an explanation from the PCT and an undertaking that they will do everything they can to find permanent places for these people."
