There's no need to pay for a council tax re-valuation, said Cllr Middleton
Councillor Howard Middleton has referred a letter send to residents claiming to save them money on their council tax, to Trading Standards.
He said,
" Trading Standards have confirmed that the Ministry of Justice number should not be used for this type of service. The business - Council Tax Review - charged £75 for their service which is not illegal but the Valuation Office Agency (VAO )will do it for free. The business has also failed to substantiate their claim that if you apply for a re-valuation and fail, you cannot re-apply for four years.
The best advice is that if a householder thinks they are in the wrong council tax band they can ask the (VAO) or look at their very helpful website."
