Bradford North Area Committee has allocated cash from its initiative fund
The Bradford North Area Committee is allocating £160,000 of money from its Area Initiative Fund to three projects; Nurture Rooms, Bradford East Community Enterprise and the Financial Services Apprenticeship Scheme.
Six schools have put in bids for Nurture Rooms which are used to help children who struggle to take part in school life because of emotional or behavioural difficulties. The Nurture Rooms will be develop to national standards.
Bradford East Community Enterprise project aims to help give intensive support to unemployed people, new entrepreneurs and developing businesses throughout the east Bradford area. They will develop a second 'hub' in Idle similar to the existing one at the Bradford Chamber Business Park in BD3
The Apprenticeship scheme will help fund a pilot scheme training 50 young people to enter the Financial Services sector. IFA businesses have expressed a wish to recruit younger people into the business to replace the older staff who are leaving.
Cllr David Ward , chair of the Area Committee said,
" I am looking for support from the Area Committee for these project because they are contributing both to increasing educational achievement among young children who have not had the best start in life and to providing help and training for young people moving into work. In the current economic climate, these are our top priorities ."
