Cllr Jeanette Sunderland
Cllr Jeanette Sunderland has criticised the leader of the council for his 'crocodile tears' over the ending of free swimming for the over 60s and under 16s.
She said, " The free swimming cash was a one year pre-election bribe by a Labour Government who were on a spending spree. It had nothing to do with an considered plan to improve health or cut obesity otherwise it would have subsided other ways older people use to keep fit like going to the gym. It was never going to be repeated so we shouldn't be deceived by Cllr Greenwood's crocodile tears..
The Labour Government left a catastrophic level of debt - £22,400 for every man, women and child in the country or over £10bn just for the people of Bradford District alone out
Labour's chancellor Alastair Darling was preparing for massive spending cuts before the election which he said would be 'deeper and tougher' than Margaret Thatcher's. In fact, in their last budget, they were getting ready to cut £44bn had they won the election.
Now the Coalition Government is having to sort out the mess they left so I'm taking no lessons from Cllr Greenwood on the effects this will have on Bradford."
