Christmas will come early to Eccleshill at a Fun Day aiming to raise funds for next year's Christmas Lights festivities.
Eccleshill Village Steering Group is organising the event on Saturday 21 August from 12 to 4 at the Mechanics Institute in Stone Hall Road.
A Christmas Lights Switch On poster competition will be held at the event, and the designer of the best poster will get to switch on the Eccleshill Village Christmas Lights.
The winner will also see their design printed to promote the switch on, to be held this year on Sunday November 21. The competition costs just £1 to enter, with paper and crayons provided.
The Fun Day on August 21 will also include performances and demonstrations from local singing and sports groups, tombola and cake stalls - and the chance to make the healthiest smoothie in the world by getting on the bicycle-powered smoothie maker!
The Village Steering Group is looking for local groups and charitable organisations to be part of the event by hiring a stall to sell goods and promote their organisation. The stalls only cost £5 each so this is a fantastic fundraising opportunity for them.
Cllr Carol Beardmore (Chair of Eccleshill Village Steering Group) says: "Our poster stall with be decorated with lights, baubles and tinsel, to help the competition entrants get into the Christmas spirit ! There'll be lots of other fun things to do at the event too."
To book a stall, please contact Jane Dale on 01274 560907.
