Action Needed at Killer Junction

11.31.27am UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 26th Aug 2005

New research has revealed that the junction of Canal Road and Bolton Lane is fifth in the top ten of Bradford's most hazardous junctions.

Figures produced by the West Yorkshire Safety Strategy Group show that 19 per cent of 16 collisions at the Undercliffe junction are severe.

Fears from concerned residents were highlighted in an article by Will Kilner published on 22 July 2005 in the Telegraph & Argus (page seven).

"The Bolton Lane/Canal Road junction is third in the list of junctions in Bradford Metropolitan District for severe injury accidents" says Councillor Howard Middleton (Lib Dem, Bolton and Undercliffe).

"This junction has an horrendous record for serious accidents over recent years. Vehicles are approaching down Bolton Lane from Kings Road at too high a speed. Something must be done before there is another injury or death".
