Call to put Food Safety Reports on the council website

11.12.03am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 26th Oct 2005

Everyone should be shocked that the Council on Tuesday refused to put reports about food hygiene inspections onto the website.

Cllr Jeanette Sunderland who proposed this action as part of the debate about the Food Safety Service Plan said,

" Schools across Bradford are inspected and anyone can read the inspection reports on the web site- warts and all. But when the Council inspects somewhere selling food, this information, good as well as bad, is not available.

It is no defence to say that information about prosecutions is published in local papers because no one keeps back copies on the off-chance that they might need them.

Putting Food Hygiene Inspection Reports on the website is a relatively simple request and I am at a loss to understand why it cannot be done. Surely we are entitled to know both who has been prosecuted and why and who has passed with flying colours."
