Rubbish tipped at Brackendale Mills

Councillor Jeanette Sunderland, Lib Dem, Idle and Thackley has written to the Director of Environmental Services following complaints of a Leeds skip hire company tipping on a former mill site in Thackley.

She said,

"I have received a complaint from a local resident concerning what appears to be unlicensed tipping at Brackendale Mills in Thackley. A local resident has previously complained to the Council but no action seems to have been taken.

The resident has followed the vehicles to a skip hire company in Leeds. He has also taken photographs of the tippers and their dumped rubbish and passed them onto me. I have forwarded them onto the Director of Environmental services for investigation.

Clearly this must be investigated as a matter of urgency. Tipping on unlicensed sites like this is illegal. Local people have a right to expect that the Council will properly investigate and take legal action to stop this kind of activity. People who use skip hire companies have a right to know that the materials they have paid to have removed are disposed of in a proper manner."
