Bradford snubbed in M62 consultation

Cllr David Ward, chair of the Bradford North Area Committee, has contacted the Highways Agency to ask why they are not holding a consultation session Bradford about the proposals to make changes to the M62.

These changes include 'ramp metering' to control and limit the flow of traffic onto the M62.

He said,

" The proposals will have a significant impact on the roads in Bradford North and ramp metering could lead to traffic queuing in Rooley Lane and increased pressure on Tong Street.

In spite of this, exhibitions explaining the schemes are only being held in Sheffield, Barnsley, Cleckheaton, Wakefield and Huddersfield.

I believe that the proposals will have a significant effect on the lives of people who live near to the motorway or wish to travel on the M606 or Tong Street.

These plans could prove controversial and failing to hold a consultation and exhibition in Bradford is the wrong way to go about holding a sensible debate and an insult to the people of the area.'
