The recruitment pack - too much packaging and enviromentally unfriendly

Councillor David Ward has written to the Chairman of the Foundation Trust at the Bradford Royal Infirmary about the 90 information packs sent out to Councillors, promoting membership of the Trust

He said,

" Each pack comes in an over-large cardboard box containing a poster, a letter, 50 glossy, over-inked colour leaflets not printed on recycled paper , and a large number of polystyrene chips to fill up the left over space. I don't have any problem with promoting membership of the Trust but this is completely over the top and a waste of valuable resources at a time when the NHS is struggling to make ends meet.

I can recycle the box and will try to do something with the leaflets and the poster but the polystyrene chips can't be recycled and will just go in the bin.

I want to know how much this exercise is costing because I am quite sure that it could have been done more cheaply, with much less damage to the environment and the rest of the cash put to a better use."
