Young people in Idle will be able to skateboard legally and safely

The skatepark at Idle Recreation Ground which is officially opened by young people this weekend, is the largest concrete skatepark in the Bradford district where young people to meet up and work on their skateboarding skills

Young people from Idle and Thackley chose equipment and helped design the £50,000 park.

Bradford Council's Parks and Landscape Department worked with BD10 Youth Partnership and ward councillors, Coun Jeanette Sunderland, Coun David Ward and Coun Alun Griffiths to provide the new skatepark.

The facility includes a level tarmac pad, knee rail, mini halt pipe, flat bank, fun box with steps, curved ramp, grind rails and boxes.

Youngsters filled out questionnaires supporting the idea and they chose their favourite skatepark design.

Councillor Sunderland, Chair of the BD10 Youth Partnership said,

"It has been a pleasure to support young people with this project. I would like to thank the young people and the youth workers for their hard work and effort in making this happen."
