At a meeting of the Bradford North Area Committee, Cllr Ward ( Lib Dem Idle and Thackley ) voiced his anger at the delays by the council and Bradford Community Housing Trust ( BCHT )in funding a parking bay for disabled people.

Cllr Ward said,

" The money was found to pay for this parking area a number of years ago when land was sold by the Council and BCHT Both organisations have been dragging their feet for a number of year and it is not good enough."

Carol Beardmore who manages SNOOP ( Special Needs Outreach Project ) said

" We have been working with ward councillors and fighting for suitable parking facilities at the front of the Springdale Community Centre for 4 years. We have met with BCHT on several occasions and have even been given plans. But nothing has happened. We have all worked hard to develop this centre and it is disappointing the way people with disabilities are ignored. "

Cllr Ward has also called for an investigation to establish the reasons behind the delay.

He said,

" People have a right to prompt response from the Council. Local people and their councillors have been left hanging on for years."
